Communication Builds Businesses
Effective communication is important to build relationships between yourself and the person you are talking with. This may be one to one on the phone or in person or it could be to a group of people. Whatever the situation, you must be able to communicate and connect with those people.
One aspect is to ensure that in the process you inject a component of your own personality into the effort. This gives you a marketing aspect of ‘your own brand”. The person listening to you, gains a different perspective of the knowledge you are imparting, they are able to develop a trust of you which will put you in a better position to effectively execute your goal.
Take time to get to know the people you are talking to. Everyone wants to be able to tell someone a little of themselves even if its about what ails them in life. Listen as this will assist you to extract information of their current view of their situation. Ask open ended questions and direct the conversation in the way you want it to go but allow them to express about them selves.
While you are listening use subtle body expressions as listening attentively, a small smile at the right time and make good eye contact. This allows the person to know that they have your attention and will tend to offer more information with which you can work with.
When asking open ended questions – Who, What, When, Where and Why are the five basic words that form opened ended questions.
Once you have learnt a little of the person then give that person a possible solution to their problem in such a way that they are ’not being sold a product’ but allowing them to know that there is a solution if they are interested.
