Duplication in Network Marketing

How does one create duplication of oneself!!!

Most mlm training promotes the act of duplication of oneself, but it is a lot easier said than done. The theory is you create a downline based upon the strategies that you were taught and potentially worked for you and your upline. Basically you gather a group of people and tell them what your interpretation of the upline is doing to be successful. Providing information handed down from one level to another with no real substance of its effectiveness, which could be a serious issue. From my experiences, most of what I have heard or read does not hold a lot of substance for me to ‘get it’ and then pass it on to my downline.

Most people are not trained as mentors or coaches and the delivery loses impact and direction. The theory is great as it promotes everyone to head in a similar direction but it needs more structure and examples of success within the industry, for the process to be successful.

The Brand of One

From my training background, theory is essential but it’s the how to make it happen that are the vital elements missing and for each person this can be different. The information must be communicated in a way that allows lateral thinking and empowerment in the audience. It is a misconception that your downline has to do exactly what you did. Present the exact same information in the exact same way. If I was a potential customer I would see this as a standard line and that the person presenting was acting as a robot. For me (and I am your average person) I need to believe and gain trust in the person presenting to me. Therefore that presenter needs to have the ‘brand of one’ which is presenting the basic information but with their own personal style attached. This then allows the presenter to be comfortable and come across as a person of knowledge, allowing a relationship between the audience and presenter to develop.

Why is this successful?

People are all different, we have varied learning abilities and use a range of mediums to extract and interpret information. Each person understands and relates the concepts in a different manner depending on their past experiences and how the information is delivered. We have pre-conceived ideas, therefore the mentor must relate to the potential prospect or downline and move the audience forward in an appropriate direction. This is done by using the skill of individuality combined with product knowledge to entice.. You can’t make a person decide to engage either as a potential prospect or as a downline member being part of a group initiative but you can provide that person with what a current status of a situation is and then outline a better view of what their situation could be. Thus allowing them an opportunity to commit.

Diversity

Exposure to diversity (ones experiences, skills and knowledge) is a very powerful additive. It can be used to enhance and grow a business quite rapidly. As a mentor and coach, it is your job to identify strategies to promote growth and deliver that information in a way that your audience understands and grasps the concepts. Encourage the audience to be innovative as out of innovation comes good initiatives. The most important strategy above all else in building your business is not to do it alone and to build a communication channel that works up and down, gathering and sharing information.

Emphasis is on team building to:• Promote the use of each persons diversity• Learn what a person in your downline has as weakness and strengths, then work with them to minimise the weakness and maximise the strengths• Encourage the groups communication of evaluations of initiatives. Ie what worked, what did not, how to improve for next time.• Share the profits ie leads• Empower a person to ‘duplicate’ in their own ‘brand of one’ and presell the service or product and build that downline.

This alone can be persuasive enough to encourage potential prospects to join you as after talking to you they have gained an impression and trust of you and exposed to the supportive structure of the business. It is a bit daunting to join as an independent with limited knowledge and little support. Remember this!

Evaluation- Post analysis

Gathering evaluations from your business group is another useful tool to use to build the team, keep direction and focus, to improve on identified initiatives, and set targets to work together as a group. Its all part of that ‘duplication’ process.

Evaluations on marketing attempts, both success and failures is valuable material. It shows potential marketing professionals • what you did in a certain set of circumstances to be successful,

• what you did that failed

• strategies attempted that worked and how successful

• out of that strategy cam positive feedback that we can all learn from and improve

• feedback from the group as to their thoughts.

Important as it allows a person opportunity to discuss future initiatives and using the diversity of the group comes innovative opportunities for the future.

Why is this business so different?

MLM businesses are unique in that they offer anyone the potential to be very successful and are not driven by corporation goals as it is made up of a primary company with a large support base of independent marketing professionals who cannot be controlled as easily as the corporation. Therefore the way the business is driven to success is different in many aspects as conventional business methods need to be adaptive to the need of the support group.

A person’s ability to be successful as a marketing professional is varies greatly but one thing that people can do is learn and adapt. Therefore continuous improvement is always what should be strived for.

Remember you can’t mould someone to be exactly like you and expect them to know or have the experiences you have had. They need to learn, be mentored and allowed to make their own mistakes but learn from them. Your job is to recognise and guide your team into performance and you do that by injecting your individualism into it.

People will join the business if they like and trust you, therefore encourage your team to brand themselves with knowledge and confidence in their own way. You develop a style that is uniquely yours and allow your downline to do the same. What stays the same is the team effort, training and knowledge sharing and planned marketing strategies as a group. Record the successful and not so successful adventures in marketing so that a new downline member is able to view what the past experiences have been. That person may after reviewing the information be able to drawn on their own experiences and direct your team into another successful marketing venture.

Support

To provide support to a downline, requires some initiation from you to gain their trust so they confide in you, ask questions, discuss new initiatives they want to try. You do however need to oversee what is happening with the downline and how successful they are. Be supportive, develop training, assist others to learn how to train and mentor and allow the flow on effect. Those that you identify as floundering communicate to establish what the perceived problem is and discuss strategies to overcome the problems. That I think is what the duplication system is about.
