Factors to consider when displaying at an exhibition!

Thinking of going to a show and being part of the exhibition, consider these factors -Be smart, before you go to a show; consider what type of show is best suited to what you are offering. This allows you to maximise the output costs compared to the targeted potential audience that will be exposed to your site. Apply for a trade site early and work out any anomalies prior to the event

• Ensure you have obtained insurance that adequately covers what you are doing. If you are unsure, ring an insurance company or speak to one of the show organisers.

• Think about how you communicate (link) to the potential customer. Find out about their needs, ask open ended questions so they are telling you about themselves. You cannot make someone say “yes” to purchase BUT you can guide a person in a direction by listening and offering a possible solution to their problems. This invites the person to change from looking for information to saying yes and buying.

• Ensure that any OH&S or Health Food Standards are complied with. Most government agencies have readily available information on what the current standards are. You just need to find out what they are. Most shows have Safety Officers who will visit your exhibit to ensure you comply with their current standards of operation.

• Most shows have applications, space allocations, request a fee for the trade site, designated areas assigned to product types and want you to have proof of current suitable insurance cover. But most of all get you application in early as there are due dates and most places have first in best dressed. You don’t want to miss out on a good site.

• When exhibiting, ensure that the information you present has validity. Don’t make false statements or unscientifically tested statements. Identify testimonials and promote health disclaimers. You don’t want to promise something that may not happen. This is viewed as unethical and will bring your credibility down to the potential customer.
